Successful summer

Sproughton Tennis Club has had yet another very successful summer league campaign.

Well done to Mens 2, Mens 3 and Mixed 2 who all got promoted.

Ladies 1 and Mixed 1 did well to stay in their respective divisions which were both tough leagues.

Mens 1 were relegated from a very hard Division 1 but avoided finishing bottom.

Well done to all players, especially those who helped out when needed.

Enjoy your winter tennis!

Autumn blog

Hi Sproughton bloggers .

The junior autumn leagues have started with the youngs being very close . William M looks the favourite in the Premier league ,with 2 wins from his opening matches , but a strong challenge from Harrison and Louis looks likely .
In the Championship , Oliver has completed his matches and has 4 wins and a draw , but Bethany M has started well, and also Elliott , there is a lot to play for .

The olds 11-18 years old , have also started and Tyler and Edward have won their opening match , Joe leads win 2 wins , but it is too close to call at the moment .

Anyone interested in joining please contact the club , as there are spaces especially in the 11-18 year old group .

Floodlit mixed champions

Hi Bloggers .

Floodlit round up :

What a winter season , decent weather to start with ,then poor . Big congratulations must go to the floodlit mixed for winning the top division this season , a tremendous performance pushing Ipswich SC into 2nd place . The floodlit men unfortunately were relegated from a strong div 1 and will join the 2nd mens team who stayed in div 2 . The 2nd mixed team stayed in 3 and the ladies again did us proud coming 2nd from top in div 1 .

The summer season ( ha ha - have you seen the rain ? ) is approaching and we welcome new members all abilities to come to Sproughton playing field to keep fit and have friendly and also competitive tennis .

Happy serving

John

Framlingham tournament

Hi Bloggers.

Many Sproughton players entered the Fram tournament this year and came away with great credit and a few trophies . George Brobbin entered the junior events and reached the 2nd round of the singles and had a great run in the mixed doubles going all the way to the semi-finals , then losing to the 2nd seeds . Colin Stephenson reached two finals and Joan Hassell reached one . John Tallent won the vets mixed final and lost in the final of the mens vets doubles . Going back to the juniors Toby LD won a round in the singles and finally in the adults Tamas won some rounds in the handicap tournaments also , altogether a fine Fram for all .

Junior tournaments

Hi Bloggers .

The junior singles ( olds ) has just finished and the runaway winner in the singles was again George Brobbin , - well done George you have improved tremendously throughout the year . But the big battle was for 2nd place , with 3 players gaining exactly the same amount of points . A play off ensued with Toby Lister-Draper gaining the important silver medal and James Kerrison winning bronze , the unfortunate player in 4th place was Alistair Gravett-Curl , mentions also to Henry and William who finished in their highest places ever . Well done to all those who took part .

The youngsters singles was again won by Ben with Barnaby winning the silver , a big mention to Harsh , who " played up " and did well and is a player for the future . But in the new " first years " the winner was young Lukas at 5 years old and the runner up Harrison - both excellent prospects .

Now for the doubles competition .
